Callie Guy House (1861-1928), was the leader of the National Ex-Slave Mutual Relief, Bounty and Pension Association and organized over 300,000 ex-slaves to sign this reparations petition in 1899 and sued the U.S. government for the $68 million dollars in reparations for the cotton tax that was collected between 1862 and 1868.
She was later sabotaged by three U.S. government agencies and jailed from 1917-1918.
